I finished a fantastic, first-person narrative of a Soviet penal unit officer and highly recommend the following:

It greatly increased my understanding of the policies and employment of these units with frequent mentions of Soviet awards and awardings.

I purchased and enjoyed the eReader version, but will consider purchasing a hardcopy for my library.

I forgot to mention the book describes an incident in which a master sergeant forged a Hero Star in order to get priority in post-war return to get home to his pregnant wife who was expecting their baby.

I ordered my copy yesterday morning. Hopefully it will arrive tuesday!

I look forward to reading it after i had fnished Martin Cruz-Smiths "Arkady Renko" series.
