Well, I'm back (temporarily) to share this. Check out the picture. Found it today, and remembered this. Supposedly the same guy. Look at bottom row of medals and other bling. Isn't there some Russian Stolen Valor Law?

BTW: FYI, I'm temporarily not collecting anymore due to other interests I chose to pursue. If I continue on my current path, I may be getting rid of my cheaper medals. If you see like random lots of 20 jubilee medals on eBan, its probably me.
He even has GPW anniversary medal miniatures!!!

Re: Odd HSU Recipient...

For the life of me I can't find the GPW minis (my screen must be too small or my eyes getting too old ), but I do see what looks like a 100th anniversary of Gen. Zhukov on the bottom row, second from the right...

Re: Odd HSU Recipient...

This guy IS wearing a US Legion of Merit which isn't usually awarded with less than 20 years of military service (and he's not wearing in the first photo). Additionally, his combination of US awards are very fishy.

The Russian breast orders could be anything, awarded by organizations for donations, etc.

This probably is a Stolen Valor case - do you have any information about where or who he is.

A quick google of his last name and the organization mentioned resulted in this (and only this):

Re: Odd HSU Recipient...

Thanks. I'll look into it. I also find it telling that on one of the links you provided there is a guidance for New, Authorized Medals or something to that effect. That seems to be the driving factor here...

Re: Odd HSU Recipient...

Excerpt from an April 15, 1992 Los Angeles Times news article:

"-- In a case authorities say is typical, a Los Angeles businessman, Lev Leznik, ended up paying $475,000 in loan-shark money to Russian mobsters. Leznik said loan sharks - backed up by menacing thugs and former Russian athletes - threatened to cut out his tongue and eyes, burn off his skin with acid, kill his family and shut down his businesses."

Re: Odd HSU Recipient...

Hate to say but states and the "american volunteer reserve", whatever that is, do not have authority to award military decorations. At least all the american awards are bogus from start to finish.
He has a Brezhnev-like fondness for pretty things to decorate himself with.
