Unknown bulgarian award

What´s this? An award, a badge, a prototype? :confused:

It is a very interesting and cool design that I wish had color, but I don't know of any that were issued like this one. If I remember correctly, the People's Republic of Bulgaria (communist) had a "hero" star, but it looked very much like the HSL. I can't say that I've ever seen one like this - but I'd like to.;) It would be especially good-looking if the darker shaded areas on the star were red enamel.

Dunno, but it says:
Star of Republic of Bulgaria III class

Materials: Gold;Silver;Bronze;Enamel

I guess it's a prototype, I even would say, it's for high award, considering materials used.

It is very much like the earliest ('40's- early '50's- the award changed appearance greatly thereafter) Star of Romania award... trimmed-out star with a circle and intertwining Republic initials in the center. I would suggest that this is, essentially, a proposed copy of that award that never came into being.

Got it from an ebay auction. It´s being sold as a "rare award card".

Never made and issued as far as I am aware and I have been collecting Bulgarian for several years.

"rare" may well be the word as someone is cooking them up.......

Judging by the letter fonts, I suppose it must be a picture rather than a drawing. The photo quality makes it hard to tell.
