Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis (Zasłużony Kulturze - Gloria Artis) is awarded to distinguished persons in the field of artistic, cultural activities or the protection of the culture and heritage under the Act of June 17, 2005, amending the Act of organizing and conducting cultural activities and the change of the Act on the education system (OJ No 131, poz. 1091) by the Minister responsible for culture and protection of national heritage.

1.Minister of culture and National Heritage confers the medal on his own initiative or at the request of:

i.Ministers or managers central offices
ii.Rectors of the univerities
iii.Marshals provinces,Marshals of the provinces (marshal in this meaning is a person in local - voivodeship level - office)
iv.The wojewodów,the Voievodes (voievode is a person in the office of the similar rank to that of the marshal of the voievodeship, but is appointed by the central state authorities)
v.statutory authorities, organisations or associations registered Poland wide, leading cultural activities
vi.managers of diplomatic or consular agents of the Republic of Poland.

2.The Medal has three degrees:

i.I degree-Gold Medal of Merit to culture Gloria Artis,
ii.II degree-Silver Medal of Merit to culture Gloria Artis,
iii.III degree-Bronze Medal Honored Culture Gloria Artis.

3.Medal of higher degree can be obtained after the expiry of 5 years from conferral of the medal rank directly below. Only in cases of justified distinguished achievements of the candidate can depart from the above requirement.

4.The Minister shall take a decision based on the opinion of a chapter on the assessment of requests for granting the medal Honored Culture Gloria Artis or proper substantive department.

5.The chapter works in composition:

i.the President of the chapter is the Director of the Office of the Minister;
ii.the Secretary General is the Chief specialist in the Office of the Minister. patronatów and medal Honored Culture Gloria Artis;
iii.the members of the General Chapter – Directors or Deputy Directors:
a.The Department Of Cultural Heritage,
b.Department For The Protection Of Monuments,
c.The Department Of The National Institutions Of Culture,
d.The Department Of State, Mecenatu
e.Department of intellectual property and media
f.The Department of cooperation with abroad,
g.The Department of education of artistic and Cultural Education.

6.The meetings of the chapter are held usually in the first or the last Tuesday of the month (depending on the number of applications submitted).

7.From the decision of the Minister of culture and National Heritage does not have the mode of appeal.

8. Applicants for the award to the Ministry of documentation should consist of:

i.handwriten list containing the names of candidates for the Medal and the date of the planned celebrations ceremony awarded medals,
ii.application for giving Medal Honored Culture Gloria Artis (one copy printed double-sided).

9.Applications should be sent to the Ministry of culture and National Heritage, not later than one week before the scheduled meeting of the General Chapter.

10.Awarded medals handed the Minister of culture and Heritage, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of culture and podsekretarze or Heritage.

11.The applicant is obliged to submit the relevant invitations to a memorial ceremony.

12.If the business does not allow any advance commitments of the members of the management of the Ministry of culture and National Heritage to share in the festivities of the ceremony, the medal handed on behalf of the Minister of culture and National Heritage of the person authorised by him.
