I have the same medal made in aluminium, I was told that it's a fake.

I believe that originals were struch in heavy metal, with real enamel on the star.

The site which I said sells it has it in stock. however, they say it is made of cupro-gilded aluminum... A repro maybe?

The seller from which I got the medal has another one, with sequencing S/N.
Usually not so good sign... If it isn't a modern fake, then the option is old stock.
