Paperwork and common sense

Pictured is a 100% legitimate booklet containing:

ORB #14.486 awarded 21.3.40 -a beautiful "mirrorback"
ORB (2nd awarding) #921
ORS #2.250.805
CSM #1.597.083

The research filled out in SEP 46, however, inexplicably neglects to mention the ORB 2 #921.

Judging from the pieces' identical patinas and correct, old-style period stamps in the order booklet, the conclusion is that the clerk omitted the ORB #2.

Bottom line - research is great, but like any human endeavor mistakes happen.

If you ask for the research of ORB (2nd awarding) #921, what do you get? Nothing or you will be sent to another file? Is it a dead end researching your ORB #921, because they omitted to write it down in the service record?

I'm not sure if you can understand my question?

There are Documents and documents

I have a "group" of 1,2,3,4 red banners on which I separately researched nos "2" and "4." And . . . got separate research confirming that the awards were to different officers, the "4" for long service but not to the same guy as the "2." So ultimately I will have to reseach the "1" and "3" because I now have reason to believe they are not all the same guy, and could be as many as 4 guys.

Similarly I have a "group" wherein the recipient got continually less notworthy. The "documentor" wrote in the document the medals as they appear on the bar Lenin, RBL, Badge of honor apparrently giving him lower class awards for additional years service!

Research the "2" not found and you will likely find a second heroic recipient.

Paul,

The research could also be incomplete, and there could easily be other information about the guy somewhere in the archives.

The Order Booklet certainly looks good to me.
