Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

IMO, those two nicks may not be related. As far as can be seen (here I go again...), the enamel has not been damaged.

One has to remember that gold is a very soft metal when unalloyed. Since later OLs were produced using 950/1000 pure gold, nicks are almost unavoidable.

In conclusion, this is a nice looking OL in usual, normal condition.

Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

Hi,

it most likely is a fake; less detail on Lenin`s portrait, crude stamped number, strange screwpost base with obvious fake patina (to hide solder ?), missing wearing traces and genuine patina, the uncommon "outer rim" seen on some parts of the edge of the reverse, etc.

But at the first glimpse the obverse looked quite convincing ;)

could be juste a suspension-type converted to produce a fake?

Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

Seb,

Most likely a later, suspension type from whose SN a digit was erased.
I wouldn't mind larger, higher-resolution scans.
