matteti Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2002 Posts: 405	Hello Daax, This was not done by the mint that's for sure! Is it a date? I don't know, but the medal was only established in December 1942, so that cannot be the date the awardee received it. Some medals have been seen with some similar numbers and they were usually the serial number of the award document accompanying the medal. In your case, it doesn't seem a document serial number neither. My guess (just an idea) would be that this is a date of some sort that was meaningful to the awardee and has been done by the awardee after having received the medal somewhere later.
