Badge "Volunteer Of Freedom".

A tentative identification. Much more research is required.

Service would probably have been in the Dimitrov Battalion and/or Edgar André Battalion.

Re: Badge for the 20th Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War

The inscription is a strange one. Not in Romanian but misspelt Spanish "volontario de la libertad" should be "voluntario de la libertad" (Volunteer Of Freedom). Volontario is Italian. The map is also horrendously rendered. Definitely "quirky".

Re: Badge for the 20th Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War

It could be Romanian, since it is very similar to Spanish and Italian, but the quality of the badge makes me think it´s fake or a fantasy piece. Romanian badges used to have high quality baked enamels.

I agree. And seems recently made.

Unless Romanian was incorporating a Spanish word or phrase, the badge's logo would not stated in such a manner.

I just checked some of the Romanian language books and dictionary we kept here in my hometown. You´re right.
