Re: Guards Badges

EricFG about the screw nut try to put in the soda and hot water, over the night. Or white vinegar. But both methods would wash away the patina.

Re: Guards Badges

OK, here's one I've never seen before. I'm not saying they did not exist, but even the enamel looks more like paint because it is so drawn into the background.

It could be a replacement attachment, but the seller does not indicate that to be the case.

I guess it's one those newly made. You see in some republics including RF, they do badges mostly with original dies left. In Russia the call those 'novodel' (novyj-new, sdelanno-made)

According to Airapetyan's Avers

Re: Guards Badges

Didn't someone post a picture of the lower badge with the big clasp somewhere on the forum just a while ago?

Marc,

Uhm, I saw that too but figured I was misreading it at possibly a copyright date for the publication.:o This has me thinking: how many of these were made for the tourist trade? The one I posted certainly used paint instead of enamel (or a very inferior enamel).

It's paint, those late aluminium one were painted on factory instead enamelling.

Re: Guards Badges

This one has features that look very much like the one posted by RichieC on page 7. I assume this is wartime? It has the wavy line through the bottom of the flag, so not plain but certainly not a fringe. Is there a date to these?
