I guess I'd go with "Honored Broadcaster". Not really "Radio Operator", as it is a civilian not military badge. |

As for me, "Radio Operator" is much better translation of the meaning of this badge than "Honored Broadcaster".

In civilian terms, Radist - Радйст - can also be translated as Radiotelegraphist... Radio Operator seems Ok to me in the military world...

Guys,
Many civilians were building and operating radio apparatus in the FSU. Most of them were civilians, and a non-negligible part of which were youngsters. I personally do not see any military connotation to the term "Radio Operator". IMHO, it simply means the very obvious, someone who uses radio equipment, whether civilian or military. Marc |
