Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

Lieutenant Nazarenko, during the offensive operations from 18 to 22.07, from 28.07 to 3.08 and from 5.08 to 7.08 1944 clearly organized the mass-political work in the battalion, during the battles he correctly supervised the work of the Communists in the battalion to ensure the completion of the combat orders of the battalion commander.

On 18.07.1944 he crossed the river Blue and whilst being part of the combat formations with a rifle company he organized the personnel to repel the enemy counterattacks.

On 07.08.1944 whilst reflecting the enemy counterattacks, his personal example inspired the fighters. He was wounded in this battle.

The records for this chap seem to be a bit confused. The unseen record card translation states Red Star plus Medal "For Bravery" but "the site" states Red Star plus Patriotic War II.

Those desk jockeys cocking it up again?

There is a second record card for the OPW which I didnt post.

No sight of the bravery medal wrote up online though which is a shame.


I had the other day whose real name was

Ivan Sergeivich something or other

But when the clerk was writing up the citation for one of his awards it was written

Sergei Ivanovich something or other

Same guy but back to front

There certainly are some frustrating and amusing clerical errors out there. Sometimes with larger groups and less common names you can see a fine selection of errors. Having an obscure Viking name (7% of all people on the US Census of 2010 and the only one in PA) I've been subjected some extremely strange clerical errors myself. I suppose that is somewhat similar to Russian speakers having difficultly with names of other ethnicities and nationalities (and vis versa). When you invert a name it's probably time for a coffee.
