Komsomol Prize

Just like there was State prize - there used to be Komsomol Prize - quite prestigious title at the time.

Front of the Komsomol Prize medal.

Size: 1 1/4" by 1 3/4".

Reverse of the VLKSM Prize badge.

It looks like this piece was never awarded, as the serial number is not engraved.

The badge itself looks worn.

You have just bumped into the latest local craze: get some old badges that do not sell well, get some VLKSM membership badges, remove the pins from the later, and glue them onto the former. You got a brand new, unpublished variety of VLKSM badge.

This badge is legit. It's a minor award from the "Znanie" (knowledge) society. I believe it was awarded for giving 10 or so lectures on science and technology.

I agree that the base badge is original, but the Komsomol badge was glued on later.
