Badge "70 Years Of INO-PGU".
I recently acquired this and it's has quickly become one of my favorites.
IN-PGU 70 Year Front.jpgIN-PGU 70 Year Reverse.jpg The Jubilee Badge for 70 Years of the INO-PGU was commissioned in 1986 by the Chairman and FCD Director V. A. Kruchkov. Of the Anniversary Badges that were commissioned that year and awarded later, this is, as far as I'm able to identify, the only one that listed the ИНО-ПГУ as the awarding entity with no mention of its eventual successor, the СВР. I've been unable to identify the specific requirements/accomplishments for which this badge was awarded, short of a mention that the recipient must have served at least 15 calendar years in Foreign Intelligence (Severus, Alexander, History of the KGB, who also provided an old picture of the award, along with measurements). The requirements for the 75-year equivalent, however, included the following: "In 1995, in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Foreign Intelligence was established jubilee badge "75 years INO-PGU-SVR", which was given together with a corresponding certificate to distinguished servicemen of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, who were in military service for at least ten calendar years; as well as veterans of foreign intelligence, who are retired and provide assistance to the SVR of Russia. Manufactured by: Moscow Mint. "The Jubilee Badge "75 years INO-PGU-SVR" is a stylized five-pointed star of non-acidic nickel silver. The top of the star is attached to a rectangular block with blue moire ribbon. "On the plane of the Star is a round plate of brass alloy with relief notches and a convex inscription at the top of the circle: "INO-PGU-SVR." In the center is a convex image of the globe in blue and gray enamel, bordered with olive and oak branches in gold. The top of the pad is covered with red enamel. At the bottom of the relief pad are the numbers, in gold, "75" and concave letters "Years", filled with red enamel. "Character height 51 mm, width 35 mm." [Antonov, Vladimir; Almanac Mars, May 2007; "Awards of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation."] Short of the 10-year service requirement instead of 15, I imagine the basis for the award would have been similar. Interestingly, after the 70- and 75-Year badges, similar anniversary awards dropped the ribbon, and added the sword-and-shield motif, more closely resembling the many other anniversary badges. I was able to find a picture of the award en uniforme: Gromushkina, Pavel Georgievich (to the left, near his elbow). issue_228_11_01_01.jpg |
