It's an interesting cigarette case you have. :thumbsup

I also have a nice one I got 4-5 years ago and I thought that would be a nice thread to share it with others.

It has Russian inscriptions "[In] MEMORY OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR 1944" It is not really trench art as the case is not hand made, but there's some hand work.

1948 KGB Border Guard Cigarette Case, KGB emblem, USSR map with large CCCP spaced across it!

I JUST LOVE IT!

Really good condition for it's age.

I have a same one but in much worse condition. I wander if they were given to all active service BG personnel or the officers? Or was it only available for purchase?

I am not for sure whether it was an award or an implement of work available for purchase and whether or not it was confined to Officer ranks. It would be interesting to find out.

Hi Guys,

Here's a nice osoaviakhim version, with added german graffiti on the back.
If anyone can make out what it says, that would be nice.
I should point out that I have no idea if this writing on the back is genuine or not.
