Miner's glory privledges.

Since it was not a true order or state award there were no state-wide privledges. But I bet there were plenty of privledges for Miners' Glory "cavaliers" since in Soviet times housing, food, etc. for workers was owned and controlled by the state enterprises - the ones who issue the awards. So I would bet that the stories floating around refer to privledges granted by their employer - who is also award issuer, landlord, grocer, etc.

Hello again,

I agree that the cavalier of Miner's Glory is probably not as highly regarded as HSU/HSL or Cavalier of Glory, but I did hear (second-hand) that there were indeed some privileges associated with being awarded this award.

Also, for the ones who were wondering what the orders look like from reverse, I will attach photos of my set.

Thank you,

Eric

Shawn,

I didn't think about the "local" privileges. You may be right about it. I will try to find some information on the Russian Internet.

Very nice docs. Now these are to the Ministry of the Coal Industry. There were several mining industries in the USSR - ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, coal, etc. Could they use the Miners' Glory awards or just the Coal Industry??

Hello,

This item just sold on E for about $20. Has anyone seen this variation or have any ideas? None of the other pictures has the hammer & sickle.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,

It's first time I see this variation.

The main part or the badge looks the same as the more common variation, just the star that is attched by rivets is different.

The set that I own does not nave hammer & sickle.

Best,
William

Interesting. This might suggest the versions posted here, including the set I own, are post-soviet ones.

Kind Regards,
Shane Cook.

Shane,

I have the same variation that you posted in your initial post, and my first and second class badges have the LMD mint mark on them. I had assumed this made them soviet era awards. Does the LMD mint mark mean that an award is from the soviet era? Do yours have this mint mark? My first and second class do, but my third class does not.

Thanks,
Keith

Gentlemen,

I think this Order was probably missing its original star and it was replaced with a star from EM Pilotka.
