Order Of The Patriotic War 2nd Class.
Seller claims these were recently issued by Communist Party of Russia:
"After several years of silence, the Russian Communist Party of the USSR issued NEW decoration – variation of the “Order of the Great Patriotic War”. It looks similar to the old one 2nd class, but the enamel is not hot, but COLD one. The back and the ORIGINAL screw also look different. The decoration is reasonably rare and pricey (in compare with other Communist Party decorations). The order comes in original (very ugly looking) box. It is in perfect condition – satisfaction absolutely guaranteed! I don’t know if the party also issued the FIRST class decoration – but nobody has seen it yet! You are bidding on the order # 6420. (Very low one! But probably very few were issued anyway.) " |

I saw this "new" variation being offered a few weeks back. Although it looks like an OGPW2 Type2 (one of my favorite awards to collect - if anyone has them and wants to "get rid" of them - give me a holler) what threw me immediately was the thin (almost graduation badge-like) screwpost. After further reading of the description, the "cold enamel" process just put this picture of a late 1980s "znachki" in my mind and I passed on this lot.
If anyone has purchased one of these (just for grins I assume) please post the detailed pics. Thanks, Eric

Guys,
In response to a question, asked in another thread, here it is compared to a 1985 OGPW. Alexei |

Alexei,
Is yours numbered like the one from eBay? Is it made from aluminum? Thanks, Rusty.

Rusty,
I am not sure if it's aluminum, most likely some sort of light alloy. As for the back I have seen these four variations: |

Here is what I was told is an Umalatova issued Order of the Patriotic War 2cl, I don't know what kind of metal it is heavy, It isn't soft like white metal so I assume it to besome other type of non-precious alloy. The enamel is the same as found on all the Umalatova awards the soft cold-enamel. Definetly not as nice as even a 1985 type 3 which still used baked enamel.

Order "Patriotic War" 2nd Class.
Would anyone out there know who why and where this fantastic piece comes from? It's obviously not trying to fool anyone but at the same time that just raises more questions. Sasha Umalatova at it again?
