Could this be the solution for the jacket.
Could this be a Naval "Kitel" model 1943;made out of heavy blue colored wool? In the picture below the shoulder boards are missing. Somebody added the collar and cuffs and other shoulder boards to make the jacket look more interesting? regards Andreas Last edited by Alfred; 01-28-2006 at 12:57 PM. |

Do you mean that your jacket is a navy jacket that had non-navy buttons, shoulderboards, collar insignia and cuff spools added? Seems like a lot of work, and not worth the effort unless you paid alot for it.
Do the various insignia look added to the tunic? |

Yes,
that was told by a few russians to me. They said, that some fakers do this. It sounds most likely reliable to me. " with the responsibility declare, that the discussed dark blue form - alteration by manufacturers of fakes from St.-Petersburg. For a basis for alteration the jacket of the Navy of the USSR daily (the form 3) is taken. I could most carry such during service as the warrant officer by the ships. It is easy for distinguishing on unprofitable pockets on a breast." I looked under one cuff and the colour under the cuff is the same as the tunic. There is no bleach out done by the sun and time. All the buttons, cuffs und collars are all sewed with the same yarn. And inside the cloth of the stand up collar is sewed a little bit hasty to the collar. All the seam is done by a machine and the inside seam of the collar is done by hand. Nobody knows exactly what the jacket is for. State security, one thought is was worne by officials of the coal industry.... Buttons at the jacket are different dated, but all sewed with the same grew yarn. So I am not really sure about the jacket, as the jacket was not really expensive. But the seller also didn´t know what he sold. But the picture of the navy jacket I posted, is except for the light blue cuffs and collars the same. And it is not difficult to add these things, as working costs are very low in east europe. So... regards Andreas |
