Book Of Honour.
So, in the US children collect baseball cards? In the USSR thy coleected HSU photos. Here is a nice album named "book of courage", where there is a place for HSU photos and biography. I don't know if there were "cards" or children supposed to cut the pictures from "Pravda":
(I wonder if anyone saw this kind of album WITH pictures and info)

Actually, these books were not for HSUs. They were given to organizations wherein the organization would place the achievements/photos of those we would call "employees of the month" or "student of the month" or their Soviet equavalent. Most organizations usually had a corresponding "Wall of Honor"--Doeska Pocheta.

Book of Honor
Tal,
Its my understanding that each factory or farm or place of employment had one of these books. If you had some outstanding performance in your work, your picture and an explanation of what you had done was placed in the book, and the book would be kept out so people could see who was in the book. You also got a Gramota stating that you were in the book. The blank books are quite common, the Gramotas are fairly common, and the filled in books are extremely rare. Keith |
