Miner's Visor Cap

Would this be a cap for a officer of the naval aviation, given that the cap lacks wings in the crown?

A naval aviation cap would have a VMF cockade...

Yes, might be... but since it lacks the wings, it is possible that the cap is a unissued item onto which the seller (it is on e!) has smashed whatever he had on hand. I am mostly interested in the colours.

Also, Im pretty sure all officers of the navy (aviation and infantry and line) wore the same cap. Sorry to disappoint you.

Hat

I believe this hat was issued to coal mining service personnel. The badge for this branch is completely different than the parade example on this hat. If you provided a pic of the inside, that would help. The officers hats have a black velvet band.

Tretov,

Isn't this cap a Russian issue rather than a Soviet one?

I am not sure, I just associated the colours to the naval aviation. If it is coal mining, I was in the completely wrong direction :D The diamond shaped shield inside says 1986.

Label

:thumbsup Yes, the label coincides with the hat I have handled. It seems to be a visor worn by personnel of the coal mining industry. If my word does not suffice, you might want to check out Under the Red Star, which is a website by Randy Stewart to educate collectors concerning 1945-1991 Soviet visors.

A very handy website--though the cap is quite nice, nonetheless. For some reason, I was under the impression that coal-industry caps had an older, "teller" shape to them, not to sort of pointed shape you'd see in later Army caps.

Are you sure?

But if not, wouldn´t a NAO cap have even a slight detail that could make it different from regular navy and naval infantry? piping, perhaps?
