Re: Guards badges dating
Ruiz,
I think it is a mid to late 1950's badge. Marc |

Re: Red Guard's Badge
Nice badges. Few of mine of that vintage have as much intact enamel as yours.

Moscow Mint Guards Badge?
Привет товарищи! I was wondering if anyone here can answer a couple of questions I have regarding the different Guards badges throughout the eras. The most interesting one I have seen is the Moscow Mint variant, which is more rounder, and has different banner folds than the ones most commonly seen (it also has a special screw plate with MMD markings). I personally prefer the MMD Guards badge. Anyway, what I'm wondering is, is the MMD Guards badge variant a Soviet era manufactured piece? Or is it a post Soviet manufactured piece? I remember when I first started collecting back in 2001 MMD Guards badges were harder to find. But nowadays they seem to be more available on the market. Does anyone have any info that could possibly shed some light on this?
I have enclosed a couple of pictures for comparison. |

Priviet to you too :)
I am not really an expert on badges, but I believe that MMD made only one variation of this badge (left on your picture) and stopped making them by 1991. Other factories continued producing them up until 2001. Alexei |

Спасибо Алексей! Also in my opinion, I think the MMD badges were of a much higher quality. I don't know if its just me, but they don't seem to oxidise as quickly as the other badges made from other mints do.

Re: Moscow Mint Guards Badge?
You mean the early NKPS pieces? I think they were much more "substantial".
