Tal,
You always manage to come up with some terrific stuff!! I think it's an award document for one of those early "Udarnik" badges. Never seen one before. Alexei |

Folks this is sold as a COPY (quite possibly Capral), but I did want to ask whether this was a legitimate (Republican) award?
Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks, Eric

Here's the original award.
It's called "Labor Red Banner RSFSR - for Hero of Labor". Established on Dec 28, 1920 by the decree of 8th Russian labor Congress. Design competition opened on Apr 14, 1921. The winner was design by Krasnoarmeyets S.I. Kuklinskiy. Final design approved on Mar 20, 1922. Award was manufactured on Moscow Platinum mill VSNH. Material: tombac. Serial numbers: none. Award period: Apr 24, 1921 (awarded to 4 factories) till Jan 21, 1933 (Head Justice A Vishinskiy). Total awarded: 163 Recepients: - 46 factories (one double award), - 115 Russian citizens. Award with Certificate #1 was given to Tula Weapons Factory (Tylskiy Oruzheiniy Zavod) on Nov 7, 1923. First Citizen awarded - Nikita Menchukov, June 28, 1921. Most of the RSFSR Red Banners of Labor were later exchanged for USSR Labor banners. This is one case where I think the repro is actually better looking than the original! :p
Since this was a "Hero of Labor", would the recipients have been eligible to trade in their award for the Gold Star when it was created? Of course, who knows how many were alive then, but still, there may have been some factories still around. --Dave |
