Re: Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)

A picture of Jamyan, probably late 1970's

"Jamyan also headed the Mongolian Association of Wrestlers from 1961-1981"

I originally thought he was wearing a Jugoslav order on his right side, but now believe that this is actually an award of the international wrestling federation: FILA : Site de la Fdration Internationale des Luttes Associes

Re: Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)

Two pics of the General among war and labor veterans.

On one pic he's standing behind a person with 3 SB's (Jamyan himself would later also have 3).

On the one where he's seated, I'm curious about the person sitting to his right. That older man looks like he's had an interesting life:)

(Much) more to be posted later...

Re: Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)

Consisting of:

Soviet:
* Order of Red Star nr 3700430, awarded in 1971. His Soviet Red Star awarding is on this list I posted elsewhere here (search General Suurin Baldan). Unfortunately he does not fit neatly in the linear manner of awarding so we can not assume to know who got a red star based on a number alone in the future. Nice is that the document for the red star includes a picture of Jamyan!
* Soviet victory commemoration medals... 45-75 an 45-85… the 45-85 one is of the rare (5000 only) awarded to foreigners variation. Comes with documents.
* Only a red document for a kind of Znak? Maybe somebody can tell me what it's for?

DPRK:
* Order of the National Flag 1st class, nr 1.361 awarded on 11.9.1952... long before the armistice. Includes document.
* Thanks to forum member CtahhR, translation of the award reason mentioned in the document: "He was awarded the highest award by decision of the DPRK Engineers General Secretary Kang Yanguk whilst he was serving with the 3rd Korean (Army ?) 1st Korean (Front ?) as supervisor of Livestock (Sheep?) Transportation." The North Koreans apparently were having food problems even then...

It doesn't get much better than that! And a great piece of knowledge... the UN "allies" on the South were not just fighting against North Koreans and Chinese... but also against a Mongolian livestock supply specialist

Vietnam
* Order of the Friendship of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1978). Includes document, with text on reverse I will see if I can get translated. Maybe notes (in Mongolian) on why it was awarded.
* A smaller Vietnamese badge without a document

Czhechoslovakian
* SVAZARM: Pre Military training badge (1980) incl. document.

Laotian
* Lao Order of Freedom 2nd class (1987). Incl. document

Mongolian
* Hero of Labor Soyombo nr 248, awarded 1981. It comes with the document, and the document actually has his picture in it as well.
* Document 1
- Polar Star 1172 awarded in 1935
- Honorary Medal of Combat 5988 awarded in 1937
- Polar Star “no number” awarded in 1951
- Medal 40 years etc. awarded in 1961
- Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor 1915 awarded in 1961
- Order of SB 516 awarded in 1966
- Order of SB 1186 awarded in 1976
* Document 2
- Order of SB 1507 awarded in 1981 (same date as the Hero of Labor)
* Document 3
- Order Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor 4354 awarded in 1974
- Order Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor 4206 awarded in 1971
- Medal 60 years etc. “no number” awarded in 1981
* Document 4
- Order Order of the Red Banner of Labor 5285 awarded in 1986
* Document 5
- Virgin Lands Medal “no number” awarded in 1979
* Range of other documents
- 1921-1971 medal, in 1971
- 1945-1975 medal, in 1975
- Some kind of agricultural badge, in 2006
- A blue document for what I am not sure, in 1975 – see scan later, any help?
- 11 other paper doc’s (softcover) for assorted medals, badges, etc
