Medal "For Merits To Security And Public Order".

Could anyone explain the difference between theese two medals ?
And of course if you know anything about them I would be happy to know it.

The left one is complete with box and award cert (cert is in a small plastic older, orginal?), while the other to the right is just the medal.

Best regards from Sweden
Christer :)

hello, you have 2 different variations of the medal for merit to security and public order...
on the left is the first emission, with enameled shield and flag, on the right is the second emission , with enamel paint, and a ribbon bearing MVR dates in white instead of red.

Medal "For Merits To Security And Public Order".

The Medal "For Merits To Security And Public Order" was founded 10th April 1969 for those who helped ensure the security and order of the national enforced by the MVR. Instituted just 3 months after the KDS was merged with the MVR these Medals were awarded to those who were the eyes of the state, keeping watch on those who may stray from the party line.

As the MVR shield changed so did the Medal ensuring two types. Here is the first.

Here is the second type with the new shield and a new ribbon colouring.

Re: Medal "For Merits To Security And Public Order".

I have several of both types of these, but I also have what was probably just a minting error of the second type - it has a black ribbon with the Roman numeral date instead of the white ribbon above (across the lower part of the badge).

It may have been discussed already somewhere, but the ribbons on the two types are also different colors (above) though I've seen both on each of them (on ePay, so take it with a nice pinch of salt).

If I get a minute, I start photographing the Bulgarian KDS and MVR badges I haven't posted elsewhere as well as the awarding boxes that came with them - much better quality than most Soviet award boxes.
