cap

Hello Ser-g, welcome to the forum.

The cap looks like some type of Militia cap, but can't say for certain its legit..did you check undertheredstar.com ? its a great non-sales site showing many variations of post WWII caps.

This caps have shown up recently in Belarus in quite some umbers. Yet, none of them seem to be of belorussian origin. They are white, like this one, similar to Aerofłot caps, but not the same, and Similar, but with grey crown.
They are being described as MVD Investigation dpt. or Airport security, or as KGB caps.
All of them seem to be of the late soviet (1989-1991) manufacture.
The band color would indicate KGB, but they all have militia badge, so probably it's correct to them. Also crown colours are a bit different from Militia's
Noone seems to be sure what this is, everyone just says what the previous seller told them...

there is indeed nothing on there about this cap.

so as far as i understand this cap could be real , but what it is nobody seems to know?
could it be a fake produced in a large quantity and realeased at once ?

ser-g

ps, on the big E they call it an militiaman ceremonial

There was a mmilitia cap with white top, but it had standard red band.

I doubt it's a fake - no one knows what it is to imitate and, at least here, in the east, they are relatively cheap (e.g. m69 KGB cap may go for about 25euro, so this, as a rare variant could go for 50euro let's say. But they go at best for about 15euro). They are of late manufacture and some may even be early post91, but are not fakes. I think, that it may by some militia special branch developed in the late days of the SU - like tax militia or something, altough it's just a guess.

In fact, there is something similar at undertheredstar.com - check aeroflot. But my friend made a comparison of the two caps and they are not the same...

btw. I have a gray one and it has a small label - typical for late soviet and 90's headwear with Zarnica factory in Moscow as manufacturer. Yet, militia caps from after 1991 have arificial leather visor. My cap seems to be a pre91 manufacture.

I've come up with an explaination , this could be a primary aviation school summer cap.
since the badge is replaceble it could just be the rong badge?

Special schools with initial flight training had sky blue bands (just like the rest of the AF) and this one has a royal blue band (like KGB or cavalry). I doubt it can be this.
