Fake "Participant In The Liquidation Of Effects Of The Accident At Chernobyl"?
Hello, guys.
I bought both of them in eBay: Almost surely it's fake, not sure about the ones that appear in the eBay article photos, but the one I received. I want to make sure that they are fake, so I don't disturb anyone trying to get my money back if I'm wrong. Photos attached, full resolution too (please do not laugh too hard :p): What do you think? Thanks in advance :thumbsup Last edited by CtahhR; 01-11-2014 at 09:57 AM. |

The Badge is fine, most likely never issued. Stockpiles of these are still readily available for $4 or less.
The miniature is not "original" as there was no official miniature. It is a post-Soviet "Veteran's piece" or fantasy. Paperwork is essential in the case of this Badge.

I don't know why I didn't think about this particular case, miniature being fake and bagde authentic. Now it makes sense :chuckle |

The Butterfly clasp was made in the USA. Not very "cold war".
They are a familiar sight on modern PMR, Moldovan and Ukrainian awards.

Fake Chernobyl Liquidator Medal?
Hello my Friends!
I'm collecting things about the Chernobyl disaster and found a really cheap Chernobyl Liquidator Medal on Ebay. It will cost about 10 Dollars. I asked the seller and he told me that had bought it in the Ukraine in a military shop. I don't know anything about medals and such topic. Do you think that it is a Fake? I think the seller is serious, he has a good evaluation on ebay. What do you think? Thank you very much for you help! Greetings, Benedikt |

Re: Fake Chernobyl Liquidator Medal?
It's real, it's a Badge not a Medal and $10 is a bit on the steep side.

Around 99% of these offered are without the document. Usually with absolutely no wear. Most likely unissued stock.
I don't think there are any figures on just how many of these were produced but It'll be a 7 figure number at least. There are fakes but few and far between.

Hello, it is really difficult, if not impossible to establish that: very few wear traces, recent fabrication, huge numbers... It is reasonnable to think it has never been awarded, but it is not impossible it belonged to a cautious person.
