Admirals parade cap - wrong embroidery - fake?
Due to space limits, I have cropped the image and left just what is important, the wreath and main embroidery. I cannot match it with "the book", is it something I have missed or is it a fake?

interesting
Not sure its a fake; the fakes on E ar not very well done, this seems higher, rather than lower, than regular admirals quality. Would like to see the entire cap, but looks like just a custom job.

I have one of these at home and this one looks suspicious. The embroidery on the peak looks wrong (too much spacing between the branches) and also the cockade looks a bit strange. Can't quite explain what but it just doesn't look right.

As our friend Viking, I'm suspicious too...yellowish gold embrodery, very high front band and a giant crown (mexican hat effect!): all this in my opinion represent the very late variation (or deviation, who knows? ;)) of fabrication,1991, or more simply the ukrainian refabrications. And no date on a brand new sweat band, etc...all this make me run aways from this stuff. I prefer old marked and used stuf, with normal "crown" (I still speak about M1969 of course).
All 1992-93 and on fabrications have distortions of fabrication of the crown: it became gigantic, distorded, the cloth is less well "hang", tied, the front crown is often reinforced with coton: the crown appears big, distorded, like inflated. Today I examinated three full bargage bags of visors caps, a mojority of 1991, from the odessa factory...all had a distorded and inflated high crowns, not the straight and sober m1969 crown (tied only by the interior metal circle, a piece of carton in the front, etc)

peak
The "Field Marshal of Venezuela" peak shows its a 1991 era very late varietion; doubt highly its a Ukranian fake, but would bet it is immediate post soviet era. The embroidery is OK, nothing that would set off major alarms. Show me embroidery like this on an 1943 admirals cap and I'd be worried.

But what about the insignia itself? It has sharp cut corners, not smooth roundings. Looks like it has been cut from a normal metal badge used by officers.
