hat badge color

Hi everyone, I picked up a star / wreath enlisted hat badge at a militaria fair yesterday but I noticed it is practically silver, it's not gold like most. Did silver hat badges exist?

Here are the pics.....in the photo it does have a sort of goldish tinge to it though.

I'm not sure how genuine this cap badge may be, I have not seen silver cap badges before, and the enamel also looks a bit strange to me, also the prongs are very thin.

Rakkasan,

Your hat badge is definitely original. It was mass-produced, and sometimes the gilding stage was much less effective than at other times.

The very same thing commonly happens with the 25-Year of Victory badge, which can range in shade from deep, rich gold all the way to white.

I´ve seen silver colored cocardes for officers, but never for enlisted...
Was this for technical services maybe?

I am fairly certain that it is a manufacturing defect of some sort.

It's a standard enlisted mans cap badge from the end of the Soviet era...good item to start collecting with!
