With these scans I am a bit more skeptical...

Sergei,
There is a "je ne sais quoi" to that medal, that makes me uncomfortable. Marc |

using the suspension loop as a reference, looks like the obverse and the reverse of the medal are not aligned

I noticed that as well, and was gonna point it out, but then I looked at all my Defense, Liberation and Capture medals and not all of them are perfectly aligned.

Thanks all, and sorry I was unable to do better scans with my flatbed. Scans do not show some minor scratches and dings. I am puzzled: the measurements seem about right (unlike other fakes I've seen) but then the bottom end of the hammer and the 7-o'clock ray in the star both have bits missing, as in a bad cast (or else as if the medal was knocked about quite a bit - that's probably unlikely). If it's a cast, someone may have seen similar medals.
As for the off-center ring, the Ukrainian dealer (from Kiev, I think) whose surname begins with 'Dem' on his site lists them as genuine. There you go. I will need to buy a medal in a very good condition to be a bit more specific. If anyone knows where to find one (apart from NB) do let me know. Sergei |

I did a side-by-side with your and mine. I don't think there's agreat deal to be worried about.
The hammer handle matches mine and the missing bit in the star could be either a ding or a bit of crud in the die. BTW, your example is always on the left....I started to mark them and then forgot. :(

I bought this last year from xxxxxxx: I was promised a certificate of authenticity, it was never forthcoming: I've never been 100% happy, but I'll let you guys tell me if I'm wrong. The pics are straight from his site, as mine are locked away with the rest of my collection. Cost around 9.95 gbp

Tom,
I would like to see some better scans, both sides please. This could very well be a genuine T3 medal. Alexei |
