Re: Bravery Medal Serial Number ID

No doubt about the digit being a 6. The background stuff that makes it look like it could be an 8 something else is either a strangely small platter of patina or natural discoloring in the silver. The latter I've seen on many of these 1940s mostly silver medals - Valiant Labor and CSMs.

At least that's my thoughts.;)

Re: Bravery Medal Serial Number ID

Hi All,

What do you think of this serial number? Both the 8 and the 2 look funny don't you think?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Research U shaped Bravery Medal

These two are on E*** at present and I previously sent them in for the list. They are an interesting pair, consecutively numbered with one a "U" and one a ring. Looks as though the same punches were used to number them. It would be interesting to see if 3.434.046 is also a "U"!

Re: Research U shaped Bravery Medal

Now we have 293 pieces in the data base.

293 pieces, 229 with separate soldered ring and 64 with U-shaped ring.

That makes a ratio 1 : 3,578
lowest s/n U-shaped ring: 2.864.684
highest s/n U-shaped ring: 3.657.124
difference: 792.440

forecast:
173.092 U-shaped ring
792.440 separate ring

Medal "For Bravery" Type 1 Variant 1

Hello,

I have been out of active collecting for some time when I recently found a small collection of items in a back closet. One of the items is a "For Bravery" Type 1 Variant 1, numbered 12,543.

I have no idea what the current value of the medal is on the market today and was wondering if anyone had any information. Appreciate any help.

Pics attached.

Thanx!!!

Welcome, Hasso....
Price depends on lots of things; where you are, where you list it, who is seeing it, the economy...the list goes on. In general a number I put on something today might be wrong in a day or two.
Then authenticity comes into play. How sure are you this is the real deal as it were? Have you had it authenticated by an expert? The reason I ask is early Bravery Medals like this can be so easily altered from common issues to much rarer versions by unscrupulous folk seeking a quick buck that prices are much more hard to nail down with any degree of exactness.
In other words it's hard to say what it's worth. It could be well over 100 and then again it might be less than 10.
I'm sorry I haven't helped much but such is the nature of the beast this hobby.

Upside up.
Strange numbering and patina. Like about 6 or 7 on a 10 scale. 10 being not good.
IMHO.

Re: Medal "For Bravery".

Eric,

All good points. To be concise, it's been authenticated and based on where I picked it up, I was already pretty confident that it was the real deal in any case.

I've found a few on line during my searching around this evening, seems that it's not that common. Well over a 100 is an understatement in terms of price.

Thanx for the info!!

Welcome Hasso !

Could you, please, post better pictures (Hig-res/close-up) of your BM ? At least, like those pics below.
I'm not an expert, but based on what I saw here and there, if genuine (and in good condition) the medaillon for a 12K alone could be sell around 400-500$. And if the suspension is "all-original", you can double that price, IMHO.
