Medal In Memory Of The 20th Anniversary Of The German Democratic Republic.

I'm sure most have seen the DDR 20th Anniversary badge. Here, for your viewing enjoyment is a 20th Anniversary presentation medal; it is the only one I've seen and I consider myself lucky to own it. If anyone has any information about this award, please come forward. It has created somewhat of a stir on another forum to which I belong. By the way, the colour is a bit off here (electronic flash); the ribbon is actually a dark red, velour-type material. Thanks!

Well, I finally got some info on the medal. A German collector with a web page, Willy Cogge, also has an example of this medal and a direct line to author Frank Bartel. Apparently, this medal was given to high SED party members and is classified a "party honour". It can be found in the 1998/1999 Bartel's Catalog. This search wound up putting me directly in touch with Frank Bartel, and I now have a copy of the coveted 98/99 Catalog. Great luck!:D

Did this medal come from Bulgarian General's group? If it did, does the medal also have its document? Or is that part of what you are working on? Thanks.

I'm working on the group as a whole a fair bit (as well as a considerable number of other Bulgarian groups). Time takes time but we'll just have to wait and see what more information can be squeezed out.

I thought $25 was a fair enough price for this.

Here is another example, unfortunately uncased but the price was right.
