Military Sports Badges

This collection of Hungarian military sports badges is among the many "NOW what the heck am I gonna do with these?" groups that I have come across in the past few years. The three at the bottom center have the word "BAJNOK", which means (thank you, Google) champion.

Enjoy

Chuck

Re: Hungarian Military Sports Badges

Chuck,

Do you own this set of cased awards? You have a rare set if you do. I have a set as do a couple of other Hungarian collectors that I know. The Military museum here in Budapest also has a set on display. Two of the badges are not sports related. They are the two tops ones in the centre. They were badges worn for a short period by Political Officers and NCOs. They were worn on the Right breast pocket of the tunic.

Regards,

Gordon

Re: Hungarian Military Sports Badges

Hi Chuck - the badges are:
top two rows in the oval and the center badges as Gordon pointed out - these are "excellent soldier" badges of various grades.
Second row of the star with the crossed swords are the national military sports competitions. Two variants in these
The lower sets which look like they have a volley ball are the local military sporting events.
These cased sets seem to have been gifts for visiting dignitaries. There are also sets that contain the proficiency badges (pilot, driver, etc...)
Still a very nice item!
