For the time located in the training battalion Comrade Shamshin showed himself to be an exemplary capable cadet in combat and political preparedness. Disciplined, demanding of his subordinates, strong willed cadet, firm in his relationships.
Being in battle for the Soviet homeland for the villages of Semitso and Babino Comrade Shamshin was liaison for the staff of the battalion and provided uninterrupted communication to the commanders of the companies and with the commander of the battalion accurately and on time under enemy machinegun fire delivering orders.
