Re: Spanish translation help
It's not Romanian. Have you considered that this was written by a non-native speaker of the language in question, thereby contributing to a non-standard language?
Isn't Romansch a Latin-like language in Switzerland/Italy? |

Re: Spanish translation help
Could it be Esperanto? I don't speak it so I can't translate but its a way to continue.

Re: Spanish translation help
I am not convinced about Esperanto theory. Still too many "K"s for me, and this language here seems to have quite a complex grammar and from what I remember, Zamenhof's idea was to make his language simple and easy to learn for all (at least for those wjho speak indo-european languages).

Leningrad Front KK Translation
I have been translating a Red Army book for a starshina who served most of his time on the Leningrad front. I am confused by some of the writing though.
Could anyone please help me clear this up. My take on this is:
He ended up in the 902 RR. Does anyone know the honorofics for this regiment - notes in the book say 902 SBOKR which I assume to be 902 Rifle ? Order of Kutuzov Regiment. Simon |

Re: Leningrad Front KK Translation
Заградотряд # 1 - a blocking or "anti-retreat" unit. This gives ole boy a darker side - he may have been doing the shooting from behind...

Re: Leningrad Front KK Translation
My wife figured out your "??'s": it's actually a hyphenated version of the full word "otdelniy." That would make it the 1st Independent Ski Battalion. The letters following the "1" are "вый" to form "первый".

Re: Leningrad Front KK Translation
I posted this yesterday but it disappeared over night.
Brian - thanks to you and your wife for sorting this out :thumbsup Eric - picked this up purely on the basis of the cover - this one is blue instead of the standard manila. I will put examples of all the KK types I have in the other thread soon. Just shows what can be hidden in these books - only cover and first page shown by seller :D Can anyone help with the last bit? 48th Independent ? Rifle Brigade Simon |
