__________
During the division's offensive actions from 31.I.44 to 10.05.44 in the region of the towns of Krivoy Rog, Voznesensk, Razdelnaya guards captain Stalnov commanding a communication company of the division, has prooven himself bold, brave and excellent organizer in the question of providing uninterrupted communication. He properly placed the communication specialists to fulfill given combat tasks and personnally - always and everywhere was on the first line at any time of day and night under enemy artillery and machinegun fire.
In the region of the city of Krivoy Rog 21-25 February 1944 Stalnov for a fewdays in a row, without sleep and rest personnally supervised the combat lines of communication and gave directions in place on the topic of organising communication.
14.03.44 in the region of Sofievka the enemy suddenly went to counterattack and approached the command point of the division from the left flank up to 2 kilometers in the direction of height +2,0, the situation became especially tight, captain Stalnov was in the control station on the +2,0 height, when the enemy in force of two battallions moved to attack, he and a few communication soldiers, didn't ran away from the height, but having allowed the enemy to approach at the distance of 200 meters opened fire forcing the enemy to lay down, he himself carried observation and passed the picture of the situation to the division's command, as well as provided solid coordinates for the artillery and RS[?]. After accurate salvos of the artillery and RS the enemy took heavy loses, retreated and the position was defended.
In the region of Grebnik 6/IV.44, when encircled enemy managed to break out of encirclement and lounched a counterattack at the command post of the division Stalnov, with a small group of communication soldiers, organised defense, supervised securing of the communication equipment showing bravery and heroism.
During crossing the rivers of South Bug, Dnestr guards captain Stalnov quickly organised a transfer of the communications equipment to the right bank of the river under enemy fire consequentlyorganised communications, which allowed commanding the units that have already crossed the river and allowed widening of the bridgehead on the right bank.
Communication under command and personal participation of guards captain Stalnov, always secured commanding of the offensive operations in complicated combat situation and facilitated destruction of the enemy.
Guards captain Stalnov deserves a government award - order "Patriotic War II class"

Commander of communication of the 28th Khar. rif. Division
Guards major /-/ /Antonov/
31 May 1944

In general, I have the feeling that he received too low award for the actions in the first citation (even for 1943's standards) and probably was also a bit underrated at the second time. But maybe I am wrong.

Re: Stal'nov Anatoliy Nikolayevich, major of communications troops

He went MIA in august 1944, so around the time the OPW2 was awarded. He was already deputy chief of staff of the 92 rifle regiment.
He was no longer MIA by December 1945 - not sure what happened, the document gives no explaination in his case, so it's possible that it was just an error.

Re: Stal'nov, Anatolij Nikolaevich, Major, Communications Troops, 37th Army

A few more docs that I have managed to aquire in the last few months:
1.An undated doc stating that he works in the SSMU of communications (not sure what that is, not even sure if the "U" is for school or directorate) as goods expert. Definately post-1955 doc, as that's the year he left the army.

2.Trade union member record booklet to Olga Ivanovna Stalnova (wife)from 1947. She was a secretary of ???? and was born in 1923.
