"Red Banner Of Labour" Order.
Just got this nice mongolian order and I hope someone here can tell me more about it. This order was made (in great quality) in the USSR by the "Mondwor" and is numbered. Any opinions about the date it was awarded, for which deeds and could it be awarded to a soviet? Any idea about the value? Many thanks!

Majorpayne,
According to Dietrich Herfurth's catalog (3rd Edition - 1999), this Mongolian Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 1, has been issued from 1945 to 1970. Around 4,000 orders issued. Price quotation in the catalog : 230 € ( in 1999). The type 2, issued from 1970, has been made in around 2,000 ex. "Because of political, economic and military constraints, the distribution of Mongolian awards ouside of Mongolia went primarily to citizens of teh Soviet union". Hope this helps. Ch. |

Majorpayne,
Why did you decide it was type 1? It's common type 3 (1945-1970). |

William,
Thanks for the precision... and I think we fully agree !! That's exactly what I wrote in my last post, except if I have been misunderstood (Sorry for my poor english !!). What is interesting is that - according to some sources, and amongst them Dietrich Herfurt, and not only him - the order posted by Majorpayne is also presented as "Mongolian Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 1". But, more important is that now we all know exactly what they look like... different schools name in different manners what is in fact a same family of orders !! Type 4 or type 2 (1970-1992) ? That is the question... Ch. |

salut Christophe, Hi you all,
you just posted a type 4 (1970-1992) identical to the one I possess. It has not the pics of animal mongolian farms. Eugene and William are right, Majorpayne shows us a nice type 3.

Any idea about the date by the serial? Is it possible to date it by the serial number?

I'd say it's from the 1950's, more like mid-1950's.

Eugene and William,
Sorry to seem having doubts on your experience and judgement... Of course, not the casre, but these confused references don't help ! The same order is referenced as different, regarding the source... ;) Ch. PS : Salut Sebastien ! |

Quote:
According to D. Herfurth, in the 4th edition of his Catalogue, the Order Christophe shows on post #9 is a Order of Labour Glory, ca. 1100, 1940-1945. No Types or Variations. The one you show on post #10 is called a Order for Civil Heroism, Type 2, 1940. In his Catalogue Herfurth also shows the pic of a Type 1, from 1926. According to the same source, the one from Majorpayne, is called, as Majorpayne says, a Order of the Red Banner of Labour Type 1. I only have Herfurth system, are there other references? Thanks, Dolf |
