Prize Of The Varna International Exhibition.

Here is a prize of the 8th (and final) Varna International Exhibition of 1939. These prizes were awarded by the Managing Council Of The International Exhibition for winning exhibits.

This particular prize was awarded to J. A. Henckels of Soligen, a large cutlery and blade producer which is still in business to this day. Although Henckels has been known to produce bayonets it was most likely a kitchen item that won the prize.

The design of this prize shows some symbols most frequently associated with communism, a hammer, a sickle, a cog, wheat, male and female workers, a factory and the flying through the air is the symbol from Genesis of peace and rebirth, the dove.

I have no idea how this item has made its way into my collection.
