Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

He is a career officer who participated in the battles at Khalkhin Gol in 1939. He has been at the front in the Patriotic War since 1941. In December 1943 in the area of Nevel as the deputy commander of a ski battalion, he received the combat assignment to overrun the roads and railways into the town of Nevel. The battalion ensured the mission was fulfilled: the road was held for the main section. While performing this task he was seriously wounded in the face with the destruction of his lower jaw.

He is deserving of the Order of the Red Banner

Head of EG No.429
Lieutenant Colonel / [signed] / Soldatov

Just shows the randomness of Serial Numbers. a 56k OPW2 being awarded in 1946... Strange.

He has a cool story though.

I'm going to order his service record soon to see if i can get a photo and find out just how bad that Jaw injury really was.

Hope you enjoy the write ups.

Tom
