K3rvmfusa,

Well, I think it is most likely a fake, and the patina is definately artificial. Would it be possible to see the back without the screwpost?

Pontoon Badge

Nota Bene,
Thanks for your help. The scans were from the source's web-site. Unfortunately, my cheap scanner does not have any depth of field whatsoever, and the back comes out a blurry mess.

For what its worth, additional descriptive info follows:
- it does not glow under black light
- it weighs 5.5g (without nut)
- there is no visible solder/glue/whatever where the screw attaches to the badge

Thanks for your assist -- I still have a few days left in the guarantee period in which to return this item.

Regards,

Jeff

Jeff,

Weight doesn't really help much becasue therte were variations of this badge, but it can't be 5.5g, mine weight 13.8-15.1g.

I would agree with Alexei on´this one. I have one 100 percent the same, even the screwplate is the same. I say mine is fake. The screw is the thin type that gets a bit thicker at the the badge end. Not the more thick WW2 type of screw. Sometimes it's very poorly soldered, mine has come of (guess that makes it a thre -part badge;) )

The bad thing is that I got mine in 1994 in St Petersburg. So soon this batch of bad copies will get a nice patina...

Also got a sniper and submariner, all with the same look.

Kim

I'd like to collect the whole set of these and since I have absolutely no idea if these are real, I ask you for your opinions:

Rusty,

I think Communications is genuine, but it is a post-war issue; Scout is a fake; and the 2nd Communications is most likely genuine.

All badges from this serie have gone up in price considerably in the past couple of months.

It's a fake - fake patina, bad enamel, etc.

Here's another fake Submariner, different from the previous one.
