I don't believe the number was changed - it is heavily patinated because the original number was cut through the gold layer to the silver. I don't see any traces of old number ever been erased.

I also think the badge is genuine.

I think there is something wrong regarding the H&S, and also lack of any wear and patina on the back, with the crude soldering of the screw. Thoughts?

I think it's probably as blurred scan. I am guessing it's OK, but am not 100% sure.

I think it's a fake, genuine badges had thinner screwposts and used different soldering technique.

Wow! This piece is quite good, even the mint mark is decent. The bad guys are getting much better. :mad: Still the lettering on the front is quite crude, especially the "short i" in the first word.

I don't like it - this is an earlier variation, discontinued some time in the 1960s, and it should have a different screwpost, soldered to the badge.
