For Bravery,U/N 1982,Anti-Tank Rifle Commander,282nd Rifle Regiment,Wounds
I just received an interesting researched Bravery Medal. The award was bestowed to sergeant Andrei Urtaev. He started his fighting career with military actions against the Japanese in Halhin-Gol river. Later he served against the Germans in the 501st artillery regiment and 22nd special battalion as a commander of a PTR detachment. He was wounded in 1942. Later, he served as a detachment commander in the 282nd regiment and the 47th and 56th artillery brigades. Last entry as place of service is 2nd shock army, company PTR, group leader. He was discharged in late 1945. Back to civilian status, he worked as a financial inspector and maintenance in a train station. He retired in 1963, at the age of 50, probably because of his wartime disability.
The interesting thing about this medal and dude is that his BM was awarded as late as in 1982! It was probably mostly because of the wound he received in 1942; seems that it disabled him somehow for the rest of his life. A few questions. First of all, what is a PTR detachment? Also, anyone have something interesting to relate about the units he served in (501st artillery regiment, 22nd special battalion, 282nd regiment, 47th and 56th artillery brigades)? Re: Bravery medal research
I believe it's an anti-tank rifle.
See this wikipedia entry. I've used them in Call of Duty World at War (CoD5) on my xBox360 as recently as this past week. :) |

Re: Bravery medal research
Thanks for the info! Here's a part of the research material; can someone say if there's anything on the guy's education here?
