Research of Ukrainian Awards

Does anyone know if research of modern Ukrainian awards is possible? If so, how?

I only know that I have seen documents relating to catch-up Soviet awards from Ukrainian archives before.

I also know that the vast majority of Ukrainian awards were issued to veterans of the GPW. But say one knows that the award was not to a veteran?

I may finally be on to a research source for Ukrainian awards, only those at the state level though (certainly none of the overly common organisational pieces).

With the modern communication resources we now all have on hand is is becoming a more research friendly world. The key factor for research with many nations though is having a contact on the ground. Many archives and government officials ignore electronic communications but will happily use them once first contact has been made through another medium.
