Badge "Class Specialist Navigator Sniper".

Interesting Sniper - Navigator Badge. Listed as number 263 in Borisov's book.

Older construction in tombac and enamel.

Badge "Navigator Sniper".

Hello,

I´m a newbie in the world of badges, but I´ve found a colourful mixture of soviet badges, patches and awards while cleaning the house. I bought them back in the 90ties and forgot about them. I think that this is the right place to ask some questions about them.

What can you tell me about these two? They only differ in the words in the lower part of the shield.

Thx.

Does anybody know what criteria had to be met to get those wings?

Hi Alexander,
welcome to the forum.

I'll try to answer your question, at least make a start.

These Military Pilot and Military Navigator ("Sniper") Wings are the highest grade a Pilot or Navigator can obtain. They were instituted on 20th September, 1971.
The first critaria goes without saying, Pilots and Navigators/Aircrew must first have been awarded the 1st Class Wings to be able to be awarded these Wings.
Furthermore they must have completed the Aerobatic programme and passed with excellent marks.
They must have learned about all the fighting capabilites and weapons of their aircraft and be able to use them with maximum effect in all weather conditions, by day and night.
They must be able to understand and follow any Operational instructions regarding their Title ( Pilot etc) to the full in every way regardless of unforeseen difficulties.

Hope that helps,

Eddie.

Excellent! Thank you.

I will post pictures of other awards unkown to me soon.

regards,

Alex

Btw, I found an "order of the badge of honor" (Type 4, var. 2) in the collection - Does a record exist, where I could find out when/ or to whom this order has been awarded? The number scratched into the back is 377592.

Alex,

as far as I know there is at the moment, no way to trace a Labour award to it's recipient. The files haven't yet been opened for public research.

Eddie.
