Help identifying this uniform
Hi,
I just came across this forum and hoping someone can help. Back around 1992 I picked up this uniform from a woman (early to mid 50's in age) who ran a small gift shop. She said it was her fathers. I've had it put away for awhile. I just came across it while cleaning. Can anyone help me identify this? I believe it's a Lt. Colonet of armour, but beyond that I know nothing. I'm looking to try and date the uniform, find the signifigance of the red stripe on the pants as well as get an idea of what the going price would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Matt |

Re: Help identifying this uniform
Hi Kiess,
Welcome to the forum. The uniform is 1960's or so (someone can nail it down more I am sure with the postwar regulations)...looks like the tunic and pants go well together, for an armour Lt.Colonel, but the cap is later, for an enlisted man, and so not part of the set. DougD |

Re: Help identifying this uniform
So if I put it all together:
Shirt and pants: field uniform from the 1960's for an armour Lt.Colonel. Cap: Officers dress cap however the cockade is enlisted man's. Later than 60's. Is this correct? |

Re: Help identifying this uniform
You seem to have it nailed down....you can get the correct cap badge on ebay for very little money to make it a nice cap.

Re: Help identifying this uniform
The capcord will be hard to find though.

Re: Help identifying this uniform
There is a guy who gets in both silver and gold cap cords on ebay (he is out in California), he will have them now and then.

Re: Help identifying this uniform
why would we change any thing about it.
the cord could have always been there and so may the cocade. due to over production of officer caps and maybe they run out of soldier versions, who knows. just changing the badge to officer would make it a proper warrant officer cap. Ser-g ps, if you remove the badge and cord you might be able to spot marks of what was there before if there was. this is a side effect of velvet. Last edited by Ser-g; 07-28-2009 at 05:35 PM. |
