Budionnovka - opinons please
This looks authentic (the cap itself and the wear), however there are some good fakers living here, so I would like to hear some opinions.
The size is about 54, it has a trace of something that once was probably a factory stamp with some text and something that looks like soviet sate emblem. Also, what model is this? 26? Thanks in advance and sorry for the poor pictures. |

It's very hard to tell from those blurry pics. This type is HEAVILY faked and pretty well faked too. I know one "collector" in Russia that weathers newly made on his fence outdoors to make them look older.
I never even imagined fake sweat before I started collecting uniforms...:banghead :angerr /Kim |

I'm not a cloth collector and the pictures could be better, but the condition of that red cloth cap-star backing screams to me "stay away".

Kim, I know who you are talking of, I remember our visit to his dacha....did have alot of nice dug items though. As for this bud, I really can't think that anyone could develop a firm conclusion based on the pics. Though faked ( huge number on E, all with tell tale signs) this one does not look like those I have seen. Would like to see more of the stamp.

I'll try to make better pics, however I doubt I can make any better pic of this ^*&* stamp, because it can barely be seen in a good light and I was afraid it won't be visible on the pic at all.

Lower part of the stamp.
It's not the question of poor pic. I can see this stamp only in a good light, but I can't read it. I think that there is a word "fabrika" there, but it's just a guess... More pics tommorrow afternoon. |

"a bit" late...
More pics...
I have tried hard, but it's simply impossible to make a good pic of the stamp. Here's just a general view of it. I have checked it in UV light and no shining spotted, but it's no proof, is it? the string attaching the "liner" to the outside part is "broken in a few spots, so that the inside of the liner is visible, but no other serious damage found. I haze asked around and now I know that the star and buttons are original, but could have been attached to the newly made cap... |

Like many of us, I am not an expert on Budy's even though I have handled many. Of course, the examples I have had were from Doug and his reputation and knowledge will always be good enough for me. With that said, Doug makes a good point concerning the scans, but my concern is the badge and the cloth star. I can't say that I have ever seen a cloth star like this one. My experience indicates to me that the points of the star should be more predominant and narrow. The badge appears to be really faded and/or the enamel looks too crude for a post 1924 example. I know this is a dated post, but I just joined...:)

hi DZ,
welcome to the poor-step child forums that I moderate; those for cloth. Actually, we have been holding our own against the 'medals' guys with number of topics and posts. It's no problem to add on to older threads (there are MANY pages of old cloth posts, enjoy exploring) so please do so. I only close threads if there is improper language or activities; all the others are always open. As for this bud, you make a good point about the cloth star. It looks like one of the first style stars, the 'fat' stars. While I am not sure if its good or bad, it should not be with that style cap badge as far as i am concerned. DD |
