NY World Fair 1939 - Soviet Badge
Gentlemen,
I was a bit taken back when I saw this one... Were the Soviets (invited) in the NY World Fair? Interesting badge or Fantasy Piece? Eric

They were there. But I don't know about the badge. It doesn't have that soviet 30-ties badge feel to it. Perhaps US-made? Perhaps a complete fake? Haven't seen anything like it before.

It really appears to be a 1980s tinnie "znachki" from some series or other. I doubt it is old.

I agree with Kim. I used to have a large '39 World's Fair collection. The badge, at least from your photos, doesn't "feel" right. Of the record, I think that there were some bogus as well as repro NYWF souvenir items run up in 1989 on the fiftieth anniversay of the fair - this could be one of them...

Tal, those are raised MM's. I would think that in 1939 they would be stamped.
Rusty.
