I just acquired a #449 badge without docs.

Tal, Eugene, can a determination be made as to the time period?

I also received a People's Deputee (Narodny Deputat) badge with a screwpost.

Thanks for any additional info.

To my sorrow, it is not possible to know the term by the S/N only, since every term a new set of badges was issued. Some supreme Soviet badges have the term number engraved as well as the s/n.

I can't quote you the regs but I can tell you my own observation.

I have an 8-term set of Supreme Soviet deputy badges with their original IDs. The dates of the IDs are 1954-58-62-66-70-74-79-84. From that I conclude that a term was once four years, later extended to five.

FWIW, I doubt that there were many 8-term members, even fewer who passed on of natural causes and fewer yet whose sets have made it to the west. I also have his 9-term republican Central Committee party IDs and some other things.

New late answer to Yolkin's question about dating Deputy badges. Menokhoshin's book gives changing method of mint marks. Also screwback vs pinback is date related. Pinbacks are later except for certain rare TsIK badges. Check his book pg 164 for guide to mint marks. But there might be variations so use as a guide rather than definitive. Also People's deputy is 1989 - if USSR or 1990 if Union republic/autonomous republic. (Only one congress.)
