Sevumov, Ambartsum Aristamovich

hello anyone

I just received this award group recently. They were awarded to an

Azerbajanian.

Medal for Valiant Labor was awarded by Ukaz of the presidium of the Supreme

Soviet of USSR on OCT.1 1943. and the Military Merit medal was awarded on

FEB.1 1945

Here is a link of Pravda oct 1 .1943.

http://kp.ru/link/9may/oct43/

But I can not read russian. Could anyone get the information about the

labour medal on the newpaper?

Thank you

leon

Gosh, 112 pages... not that I know exactly what I'd be looking for.

The date in the document is the date from which the recipient had the privileges that came with receiving the medal. I don't think that's the same as the decree date. Didn't privileges usually start the month after the award was received? Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken!

Also, I'm not convinced the Valiant Labor Medal is for labor.

I believe the Combat Merit Medal is in some way connected to this one: FS-Fixed $: Combat merit medal with rare document - The Soviet Military Awards Page Forum. Almost the exact same dates, extremely close serial numbers, handwriting match. I'll bet the recipients were in the same unit (on the level that the award was issued).

I also hazard a guess that the recipients of both awards were NKVD. I think the few examples of odd/rare document types like this I've seen were all awarded to NKVD folks. Furthermore, if they were NKVD, a Valiant Labor Medal would make sense.

Since neither recipients are on Podvignaroda, I recommend researching both groups the old fashioned way. I think the results will be interesting.

Alex

And another thought:

There was an NKVD long service decree on January 15, 1945. So a 1, February privilege date would make perfect sense.

Re: Ambartsum Aristamovich Sevumov.

Hello Alex

As I know the decree was often published on the Pravda next day after it issued. So If you konw Russian you can have a look at the Pravda oct 2 .1943. I guess there is some information about the labour medal.

PS: you can see there are two dates in the labour medal booklet

One is the oct 1 .1943(the decree date) and another one is DCE.27 1943(the award receive date )

As the same way, I think you can find the deccee of the Combat Merit Medal on pravda feb.2 1945

here is the link http://kp.ru/link/9may/feb45/
good luck

Leon, again, the privileges date is not the same as the decree date. I'm certain you're not going to find anything in Pravda on these awards. Order traditional research instead.
