Re: Ribbon Bar Help
There's a photo chart in The Comprehensive Guide that shows the ribbons and their wearing order if you're lucky enough to have found that wonderful book.
I'm sure there's a list here somewheres. I'll look for it today. Worst case scenario I'll email you an image of the chart. :)

Re: Ribbon Bar Help
Actually I got it a few days ago. Wow what a great book, I didn't make it to the back yet:) Also I got Echoes of War which is a great companion, I just srarted researching a few months ago.
So the ribbon bar looks bad? I always had my doubts with it. |

Mystery Ribbon Bar
For your viewing pleasure is a nice mix of military and civilian awards including Sevastopol, Stalingrad, and Budapest. Our hero obviously fought in WWII, but could he have been older?
What I don't know is what the two final ribbons are in the third row. Could one be an Russian imperial St. George's cross? The blue and red ribbon, a scraped 50th Anniversary of the Soviet Militia ribbon, appears to be intentionally modified, albeit messily, prior to mounting, perhaps to imitate another Russian imperial medal? Anyone know any Russian imperial ribbon and/or Communist bloc explanation that can identify these two? Thanks in advance. |

It could be vet-adjusted or it could be junk. Who knows? The one rule I go by with Soviet bars is there are no rules. :chuckle If I were thee I'd keep it. I'd just not have it as the top bar in my display.

Re: Mystery Ribbon Bar
I guess the last ribbon tries to depict the 25th anniversary of victory in GPW badge.
Veterans unofficially put them on their self-made ribbon bars sometimes.

Re: Mystery Ribbon Bar
If it (the last) is unofficial, then where did the recipient get the ribbon? It's the same cloth and quality as the others. Was there an "underground" for unofficial award ribbons? I'm sure someone will tell me "yes," but it just seems strange to me.:)

Re: Mystery Ribbon Bar
Good call, I didn't think of that. I"ve seen other ribbon bar modifications to indicate the 25th Anniversary badge, but never a painted variant. Thanks!
Now any one for the next to last one? |

Re: Mystery Ribbon Bar
Maybe an attempt to recreate the 50 years of Soviet Militia or Public Order medal?
The middle is erased so we´ll never know...
