Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

During his serving in the Signals Battalion Comrade Zvonnikov has proven himself the best and most knowledgeable in his combat specialty. As a line supervisor Comrade Zvonnikov has been an exemplary line worker on whom continuous communications relied. In the village of Straden (Austrian) he repaired a line damaged by a shell and repelled a German counterattack. Comrade Zvonnikov does an excellent job caring for his equipment. In his spare time he collects discarded enemy communications equipment. On 2nd April, 1945 while laying a line Comrade Zvonnikov discovered a cache of enemy communications lines discarded by the retreating enemy. Comrade Zvonnikov used this cable for 3.5km to reach the communications battalion.

For excellent knowledge of his specialty and conscientious accomplishment of his assigned duties, Comrade Zvonnikov is deserving of the Combat Services Medal.
